Henry David Thoreau believed that in order to live well we must reduce the number of material goods we have otherwise these things will begin to dominate us. I can neither agree nor disagree with Thoreaus statement because in some ways he is right for example i believe we rely on kitchen utilities way to much. Before all of this new technology was invented people use to do things by hand and they got along just fine. But on the other hand if people use things in moderation and dont over use things they wont begin to control our lives. For instance if people use televisions sparingly then it wont dominate people. I believe that material goods can only dominate you if you let them.
People need to realize just because we have all of these technological advances doesnt mean we should we abuse them, we have to learn to use everything in moderations and we will be fine.
